Our biographical archive explores sources in subprojects, each of which comprises a thematic corpus of short biographies. Each subproject (Madness and Art, Psychiatry in Nazi Germany, Psychiatric Social Work) that can be accessed in the biographical database via the respective search bar. History of the profession
Our focus is on members of the medical and psychosocial professions in the field of psychiatry, but we also consider influences from other fields and disciplines (e.g., administrators, sociologists, journalists, historians).
History of experience
Our focus is mainly on authors of autobiographies or first-person accounts as well as on artists. Accounts by relatives and other close associates are relatively rare and a topic for future research.
Personal narratives
Our digital collection of published historical testimonies is regularly expanded and is organized according to ethical criteria.
